Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko extended Happy Constitution Day greetings to Belarusians, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
"Today we celebrate the Constitution Day which has become a truly people's document. The Basic Law, adopted 30 years ago and improved at referendums by the will of the majority of Belarusians, largely determines the course of our history,” the head of state said. "Thanks to the Constitution, we have created the key institutions of state power and guaranteed the rights and freedoms of citizens."
"The voice of the people in favor of the continuity of the best traditions of the past era has become the key to maintaining peace and harmony in society," the president emphasized. “The unprecedented trust of the citizens of Belarus in the political system made it possible to build a stable and independent state. The fundamental values enshrined in the Basic Law, such as social justice, traditional family, historical truth, are the true guidelines for us helping us to overcome modern challenges and look confidently into the future."
Aleksandr Lukashenko considers it symbolic that this year the Belarusian People's Congress will begin its work in the constitutional status for the first time. Acting in a new role, the supreme representative body of democracy will become another powerful pillar of our statehood.
The head of state expressed confidence that the observance of constitutional norms and principles, the responsibility of every Belarusian for the future of the Fatherland will continue to contribute to the dynamic development of our state.
The president wished everyone good health, happiness, prosperity and new successes for the benefit of the beloved Belarus.
