Grodno welcomes more visa-free tourists in July

The flow of visa-free tourists has been growing in Grodno, BelTA learned from the sport and tourism department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee.

In the first week of the month Grodno welcomed more than 100 people. From 20 to 27 July some 570 people came to see the city and the surrounding areas with a visa.

“Of course, the numbers are still far from what they were before the coronavirus put tourism on hold in the world. However, we see a growing interest in the region. People come in small groups for a day or two to look around and draw up the route of the next trip. Travel companies say that the reviews have been positive,” the department said. By the way, most of the guests are from Poland. Citizens of other countries show interest in visiting the region without visas, too.

“Museums, other interesting facilities, cafes, restaurants, hostels and hotels are ready to receive tourists. Previously, different events were the catalyst of interest. Festivals have always attracted a large number of guests,” the department noted.

“Grodno Oblast used the hiatus to upgrade roads and streets. Some spruce-up work has been carried on the Augustow Canal. Large-scale restoration work continues, for example, on the Old Castle in Grodno, the palace-park complex of Sviatsk in Grodno District, and other landmarks. We are ready to offer guests new tourist routes,” the sport and tourism department informed.
