Belarusian farmers harvest over 883,000t of cereals

Cereals and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat and millet) were harvested from 222,500 hectares, which is 10.39% of the designated area, the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

As of July 27, Brest Oblast cleared 25.9% of the designated area (89,700 hectares), Gomel Oblast 13.9% (48,400 hectares), Grodno Oblast - 10.19% (31,100 hectares) and Minsk Oblast - 9.78% (43,900 hectares).

All in all, Belarusian farmers cropped 883,000 tonnes of grain with the average yield at 39.7 centners per hectare. Winter barley was harvested from 56,900 ha of land (95.4% of the designated area), with 292,200 tonnes produced and the average yield at 51.4 centners per hectare. Malting barley was gathered from 9,090 hectares, which is 16.6% of the plan, with 36,300 tonnes produced and the average yield at 39.9 centners per hectare. Winter rapeseed was harvested from 120,800 hectares (39.2% of the targeted area), with 288,700 tonnes produced and the average yield at 23.9 centners per hectare. Straw was harvested from 141.400 hectares of land (63.5% of the targeted area). Flax was removed from 17,800 hectares (40.3% of the targeted area).

As part of the second-cut harvest farmers cut down grass on 656,900 hectares (64.3% of the targeted area) and made 592,900 tonnes of hay (52.1% of the target), 11,012,500 tonnes of haylage (82%), and 289,300 tonnes of silage (1.52%). A total of 3,466.8 million tonnes of feed units has been made out of grass or 36.4% of the targeted amount.
